Hampstead Garden Suburb Horticultural Society is a voluntary organisation open to all residents and those who live nearby, with an elected Committee meeting monthly. An Annual General Meeting is held in November. The Society is affiliated to:


Hampstead Garden Suburb Horticultural Society was founded on 20th May 1909, as the first society to be started by Dame Henrietta Barnett and early residents. We hold two Flower Shows a year (June and September) and organise a variety of events throughout the year to cater for all levels of gardening interest and horticultural expertise. This year, for the first time, we are holding a Potato Growing Competition for all ages at the June Show. Potatoes and growing bags will be distributed on 3rd/4th February. Details can be found in the members' handbook and on the events pages. Grimsdyke Brass will play in the garden at the September Show.

For this year's 'Suburb in Bloom' garden competition, judging to find the best garden in Hampstead Garden Suburb will take place on Wednesday 21st June. The deadline for entries is Wednesday 7th June. To obtain an entry form email Caroline.Broome (caroline.broome@virginmedia.com) or Pauline Murphy (paulinemurphy16@aol.co.uk). First prize 25 garden voucher and the Millennium Cup (to be presented at the 104th AGM on Tuesday 13th November 2018). Second prize: 15 garden voucher; Third prize: 10 garden voucher.

News

HGS Horticultural Society members win top garden prizes. At an awards ceremony held by the London Gardens Society at The Guildhall in October 2017, David and Caroline Broome won a cup and first prize in the best small garden category and Diane Berger won a cup and first prize in the best large garden category. Rosie Daniels and Marjorie Harris were awarded certificates of excellence for their gardens.
