Proms at St Jude's - Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra
at St. Jude's Church .
7.45pm The Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra performs Beethoven’s
Triple Concerto and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, with Robert Max
(director/cello), Sophie Lockett (violin) and Zoë Solomon (piano).
One of Beethoven’s less well-known works, this amiable concerto,
for piano, violin, cello and orchestra, is followed by Berlioz’s tale of an
artist and his unrequited love. With its dramatic themes of longing and
despair, this was, in 1830, a ground-breaking piece of programme
music and orchestration.
The Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra has long been part of the
musical life of London, working with different conductors and artists
at venues and festivals across the city and the South East.
Robert Max, soloist, conductor and recording artist, is principal cellist
of the London Chamber Orchestra and cellist of the acclaimed
Barbican Piano Trio.
Sophie Lockett appears regularly with the Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia and the Hallé. She has performed
with artists including Frank Ocean, McFly, Alison Moyet and
John Barrowman.
Zoë Solomon’s qualities as a chamber musician and accompanist have
made her in demand at concerts in both Europe and the USA.
